Award-winning Southern California watercolorist Judi Christensen believes her fascination with capturing facial expressions, whether human or animal, is her driving artistic force. She enjoys interpreting their whimsical and soulful expressions in her own impressionistic way.  She aptly applies her unique artistic technique to still life and to landscape paintings as well.

Christenson - Saturday Afternoon

Judi’s influences include famed California artists Milford Zornes and Henry Fukuhara. She is incredibly grateful to have participated in one of the latter’s famous outdoor workshops. For many years she participated in workshops held by the renowned local artist Sylvia Megerdechian.  She enjoys painting alongside fellow artists at local workshops including Open Studio sessions at the Chaffey Community Museum of Art.

Judi studied Fine Arts at San Jose State University and graduated from Azusa Pacific University.  Her professional art career took off when she sold her first painting to a faculty member. Her paintings can be found in many private collections.

Venues exhibiting Judi’s works include Studio 129, Studio C Gallery and Square i Gallery both in Claremont, and at the Chaffey Community Museum of Art.
