Tom Fong is best known for dramatic watercolors, full of movement and infused with a Zen like abandon. His precocious talent was recognized when he began to draw at age seven and started to use watercolor in junior high school. Fong majored in industrial design at USC and was employed in the aerospace industry designin workspaces for pilots and astronauts as well as controls and displays for the F-14 fighter jet and Apollo Lunar Modules.
In his spare time he attended watercolor classes and studied with man of the major watercolorist in Southern California. After retiring from aerospace, Tom devoted himself to his art full time. He was an active member of Watercolor West; taught at Santa Monica College and Mt. San Antonio College; and conducted workshops for the Palm Springs Museum of Art, the San Diego Watercolor Society, the Redlands Art Association, Watercolor West and the National Watercolor Society.
